Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care that blends modern-day scientific knowledge with more natural forms of medicine. Naturopathy emphasizes prevention, treatment and the attainment and maintenance of optimal health through encouraging the body’s inherent self -healing process. The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and mind to treat the underlying cause or causes of disease. The symptoms of disease are viewed as warning signals of improper functioning, often linked to unfavourable lifestyle habits. Unlike conventional medicine, naturopathic medicine sees disease as a process, rather than an isolated event or entity.
