Dr. Rikst Attema, ND, MSc

Dr. Attema completed her naturopathic education at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC. She began her studies at the University of Ottawa where she completed her BScHon in Human Kinetics and then completed a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. During her graduate studies, she had the opportunity to work on a large clinical trial examining the effects of exercise on metabolic parameters in those with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Born in Europe, Dr. Attema was exposed to complementary therapies at an early age and quickly became fascinated with natural medicine. Dr. Attema is passionate about Naturopathic medicine and strongly believes in the innate healing power of the body. She believes that patient education and empowerment are key to patient health and success. Dr. Attema tailors her treatment plans to accommodate to her patients’ individual needs. She believes in the integration of both conventional and complementary medicines for a more comprehensive approach to health care.Dr. Attema has experience and a special interest in woman’s health, infertility, diabetes and metabolic conditions, weight loss, gastrointestinal health, and mental health. She treats her patients using botanical medicine, homeopathy, nutritional counseling, acupuncture, Bowen therapy, therapeutic injections including IV vitamin and minerals, exercise, and nutritional supplementation. Dr. Attema also works as a Brain State technician working with EEG technology and real time feedback to help balance and harmonize brain activity.

In her free time you will find Dr. Attema running, cycling, paddling, hiking, cross country skiing and other activities outside. She also enjoys trying and creating new recipes, reading and spending time with friends. Dr. Attema is licensed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of B.C. (CNPBC) and is a member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (BCNA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Medicine (CAND).

Dr. Karen Nguyen ND

Dr. Karen Nguyen ND received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology before obtaining her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Toronto. Dr. Nguyen has always had her interest in health and the various aspects that contribute to it. She believes in the connection between the mind and body and how both influence and are integrally tied to health. Her focus is on preventative healthcare and she tries to incorporate the importance of a balanced lifestyle that is unique to each individual. She uses modalities such as acupuncture, homeopathy, nutritional and lifestyle counselling, botanical medicine, and vitamins/minerals therapy to treat the root causes of various conditions. Common conditions treated by Dr. Nguyen include thyroid imbalances, infertility, digestive complaints, muscular and joint pain, anxiety, and hormone imbalances. With education, proper screening, and appropriate interventions, optimal health can be achieved naturally with confidence and success.

Dr. Nguyen is an active member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association (BCNA), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia (CNPBC). She has certification in Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation, Bio-Energetic Assessment (ETA Scan) and Psychosomatic Energetics (REBA).

Michelle Bonnie
Medical Herbal Dispensary Manager

Michelle is a published research biologist, herbalist, sound healer and vibrational medicine practitioner. She began her 30-year journey into the healing arts with scientific research into human viruses. This led Michelle to the awareness that a more integrated approach was needed to better affect health at the cellular, emotional and spiritual levels.

Michelle subsequently studied phytomedicine (plant medicine), sound therapy, crystal and other forms of healing, vibrational medicine and yoga. She has lectured and facilitated studies on herbal pharmacy, marine mammal sound research, quantum physics, crystal therapy, natural skincare and yoga. Her work has been published in several North American journals of science and medicine, and in various scientific periodicals.

Michelle enjoys developing long-term relationships with pharmacy customers, allowing her to better understand their unique needs in all levels of healing.

“Understanding a person’s energy, knowing what makes them tick, is all part of the healing process,” she says. “I look forward to interacting with Finlandia’s customers and helping them improve their well being.“

Nubia is a medical doctor from Colombia where she specialized in obstetrics and gynecology for 10 years. As an international medical graduate she comes to Finlandia with an interest in women's health, and particularly in breast thermography. Nubia will also be happy to assist Finlandia customers with removal of skin tags, cysts, benign moles etc. with Cryopen. Call for an appointment.
